Protected designation of origin (AOP)
European label: a wine whose quality comes from a place, made from grapes of that place and produced there.
The protected designation of origin is the European Union label for products whose quality or characteristics are essentially or exclusively due to a particular geographical environment, with its natural and human factors.
For a wine, the grapes come exclusively from the geographical area, production takes place there, and the wine is made from varieties of the species Vitis vinifera.
