Premier cru
A term that an appellation's specification reserves for some of its climats.
The term “premier cru” is reserved, by the specification of an appellation, for wines from delimited climats. In Burgundy, it often comes with the name of the climat: Gevrey-Chambertin premier cru Les Cazetiers.
Its meaning depends on the appellation: each specification states which places may bear it.
